In 2022 healthcare institutions that were found non-compliant with HIPAA laws paid penalties averaging $98,000, with highest fine going as far as $6.8 million.  In this analysis, we look at one key problem that is often a major source of nightmare for legal and compliance officers in the healthcare sector and with implications related to their IT and data-bearing devices disposition function, known as ITAD. This analysis lists the areas that healthcare leaders need to be concerned with when retiring their computers, mobile devices and other IT equipment, and shows how many healthcare institutions face major fines for non compliance.

The analysts in this session looked at the factors that could influence the performance of the IT asset disposal industry and concluded that we should probably not expect a lot to take place in the first half of 2024, but things should heat up in the second half, and more precisely starting as late as mid-November. So patience and endurance will be require for ITAD vendors that really want to thrive in the years ahead.
