In 2022 healthcare institutions that were found non-compliant with HIPAA laws paid penalties averaging $98,000, with highest fine going as far as $6.8 million. In this analysis, we look at one key problem that is often a major source of nightmare for legal and compliance officers in the healthcare sector and with implications related to their IT and data-bearing devices disposition function, known as ITAD.
